A little about me and the studio…

It all started when…

From a very young age I have loved and appreciated art, crocheting and crafts. I spent a lot of time in the art room in high school and graduated college with a fine arts degree. When homeschooling my two amazing sons; Samuel (23) and Sebastian (18), we found a wonderful co-op where I taught art for 6 years. Classes were visual and applied arts, famous artists, and arts and crafts. For three summers I held week long art camps in my backyard studio, offered adult art workshops and art birthday parties. A lot of creations were born from drawing, watercolor, oil and acrylic painting, clay creations, wood burning, stained glass, batik, cake decorating, encaustics and printmaking.

I love the creative process! Making, creating and experimenting with new materials is exciting! I also love to teach others; giving them the opportunity to experience something new, find some joy, push their comfort levels, and grow their confidence. This gives me purpose and happiness.

I very much appreciate the homeschool community and am grateful for the privilege of having the choice and opportunity to do so. I loved teaching art at the co-op. I am also thankful that my boys had art in their schools. I hold art and creating at a high esteem. I believe it’s a very important part of the learning process and education. After all, the first thing God did was, create!

My hope for the studio is to continue to teach homeschooled students art, after school student art classes, adult workshops, craft nights, crochet lessons, paint and sip parties (fun art, not fine art :) ), and birthday parties! Going on year six! Thank you, Lord.

I’m looking forward to watching it evolve!

I hope you join me!

Can’t wait to create! -Sheila Peacock
